I dream of dancing with the American Ballet Theater. Feet are my lifeline to meeting that goal. When I fell down steps and dislocated my ankle I was so afraid; not just that I would ever dance on pointe again, but that I would walk properly. From the moment I met Dr. Gallina, I knew I was in good hands. She asked me what happened, and spent time talking to me about how scared I was about my future. Dr. Gallina sees me as a whole person, not just someone who needed her ankle fixed. Five months, three reconstructed ligaments later, and I am back in class, even putting pointe shoes back on. As a talented surgeon, she moved forward knowing exactly what I needed my ligaments to do after repair, and it's working! Dr. Gallina frequently communicates with my physical therapists, as well as the teachers & staff at the JKO School of American Ballet Theater to make sure I'm moving forward safely while challenging myself. I am so very grateful for everything she has done and continues to do to help me reach my goals.
